We hope that we will answer your questions about The Heart of the Mother Retreat ~ Costa Rica here, but if there’s something you’re wondering about and we haven’t answered it, please send your questions to us below on the inquiry form!
Q: What airport should I fly into?
A: Your end destination is Puerto Jimenez. Many people find cheaper international flights from their home city to San Jose. You can book domestic flights from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez (one way or round trip) with Nature Air.
Q: How do I get to our retreat center? How do I get back to Puerto Jimenez ?
A: After you book your tickets to Puerto Jimenez, we will ask you to provide us your airline, flight number, and arrival time. We will pick up the entire retreat group in Puerto Jimenez at the designated pickup location, at 11:00 am on April 14th. Airport transportation is included as a part of your registration. We will also return the entire group to Puerto Jimenez on April 21st for outbound flights. Please make sure to book your flight from Puerto Jimenez for departure after 4:00 pm on April 21st. If you plan to travel onward by renting a car, or plan to stay on the Osa Peninsula for any additional days, you are responsible for booking your own transportation.
Q: Can I arrive early or leave later?
A: Absolutely! If you wish to arrive early, we can assist you with arranging accommodations, either at our retreat center and ecolodge, or in Puerto Jimenez. If you wish to extend your stay in Costa Rica, or travel onwards to another location, we are happy to assist you as well.
Q: Where are we staying during the retreat?
A: We will be splitting our group between two gorgeous, stunningly beautiful properties right on the Golfo Dolce. Our retreat center is Ojo Del Mar, and our ecolodge is Casa Dos Rios. Our center is quite rural, on the remote coast of the Osa Peninsula, and the jungle and ocean are absolutely stunning there!
Q: Can I have a single room?
A: We are happy to offer both single and shared accomodations. Please understand that all options are limited in quantity and based on availability at your time of booking. 50% deposit is required to secure your preferred accommodations. Here are our four options:

Q: Do I need a visa to go to Costa Rica?
A: If you are travelling with a passport from the US, you do not need to get a visa in advance. When you arrive in Costa Rica, you will receive a visa. Please make sure that your passport has at least 6 months left before expiration, as this can cause travel problems and possibly deny you entry to Costa Rica. If you are travelling with a passport from a country other than the US, please send us a message and we can help you find the information you need.
Q: What kinds of things will we be doing on the Retreat besides healing ceremonies?
A: Lots of wonderful things are offered as a part of the retreat! We will have daily meditation, and several yoga classes. We will also offer a few excursions ~ these are a wonderful way to see a little bit more of the area, and to connect with nature and each other. Massage and other healing modalities will be available if desired (not included in registration). We will also enjoy a variety of rituals and ceremonies to connect with gratitude, bring greater balance, and amplify the purification of our time in retreat.
Q: Will I have time to rest, be alone, and explore the area?
A: Yes, absolutely! We have planned in ample rest time, especially on ceremony days. In addition, other than ceremonies and integration circles, all activities and excursions are optional. We want each participant to have the space and time to take care of themselves, and we support that completely!
Q: What should I bring with me?
A: It’s pretty hot in the Osa in April, so plan to dress for a tropical climate. Bring at least one pair of sturdy sandals (Chacos or Keens) for exploring more rugged terrain and swimming in the rocky water. Bring whatever supplements and special snacks/food items you enjoy, as there are no shops once we leave Puerto Jimenez. Bring whatever health and personal care items you prefer from home, as they may not be available in Puerto Jimenez. Bring small sacred items to create an altar in your room. Bring a yoga mat or blanket if you wish. Bring sunscreen and a natural insect repellent. Bring something fun to wear for dancing or merriment. Bring a camera or cell phone with a camera ~ it’s too beautiful to forget that! Bring a favorite sun hat and light long sleeve shirt as a cover up. Bring a lightweight rain jacket for possible showers. Bring a small instrument if you wish, but make sure you know how to pack it properly. Bring a journal, an inspiring book, or art supplies. Most of all, bring an open heart and open mind, and your intentions for healing and personal transformation!
Q: Is there laundry service available?
More info TBA.
Q: How many people will you be taking on the 2018 Retreat?
A: We are offering space for only 10 people to come to Costa Rica with us! It is important to us that our participants feel well taken care of and enjoy the retreat in an intimate setting. We keep the registration number this low to make sure that you have the best and most personal experience possible.
Q: I have a special diet ~ vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc ~ and wonder if you can accommodate my needs?
A: Special diets are no problem. We are happy to accommodate your needs as long as you let us know during registration. All meals will be fresh, healthy, and vegetarian and prepared to best support our healing work. Gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free options are standard.
Q: What is included in my registration fees?
A: Your registration fee covers almost everything you could need on the retreat. Accommodations, meals during the retreat, healing ceremonies, group and private integration sessions, meditations, yoga, group rituals and sessions, local excursions, and transportation during the retreat (including airport pickup and return).
