We hope that we will answer your questions about The Heart of the Mother Retreat ~ Costa Rica here, but if there’s something you’re wondering about and we haven’t answered it, please send your questions to us below on the inquiry form!
Q: What airport should I fly into?
A: Your end destination is Tambor. Many people find cheaper international flights from their home city to San Jose. You can book domestic flights from San Jose to Tambor (one way or round trip) with Sansa Airlines and Costa Rica Green.
Q: How do I get to our retreat center? How do I get back to Tambor ?
A: After you book your tickets to Tambor, we will ask you to provide us your airline, flight number, and arrival time. We will arrange taxis based on arrival times of the group the day the retreat begins (taxi fees are shared among those arriving at each designated time). We will also arrange taxis to return participants to Tambor airstrip, or onward to Montezuma or Santa Teresa, the day the retreat closes. Please make sure to book your flight from Tambor for departure after 1:00 pm on the final day of the retreat. If you plan to travel onward, either by public transportation or by renting a car, or plan to stay on the Nicoya Peninsula for any additional days, please let us know how we can assist.
Q: Can I arrive early or leave later?
A: Absolutely! If you wish to arrive early, we can assist you with arranging accommodations, either at the retreat center, or in the area. If you wish to extend your stay in Costa Rica, or travel onwards to another location, we are happy to assist you as well.
Q: Where are we staying during the retreat?
A: We will be at a wonderful retreat center and ecolodge in Cabuya, Costa Rica. Our center is quite rural, in the remote coastal jungle of the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, and while we are not beachfront, we are a short walk from the ocean, and only 15 minutes by car from Montezuma.
Q: Can I have a single room?
A: We may have single accommodations available, but initial registration is only for shared rooms. If single rooms are available, we will announce that option closer to the retreat.
Q: Do I need a visa to go to Costa Rica?
A: If you are travelling with a passport from the US, Western Europe, and Australia, you do not need to get a visa in advance. When you arrive in Costa Rica, you will receive a visa. Please make sure that your passport has at least 6 months left before expiration before you travel, as this can cause problems and possibly deny you entry to Costa Rica.
Q: What kinds of things will we be doing on the Retreat besides healing ceremonies?
A: Lots of wonderful things are offered as a part of the retreat! We will have daily meditation and yoga classes. We will also offer a few optional excursions ~ these are a wonderful way to see a little bit more of the area, and to connect with nature and each other. Massage and other healing modalities will be available if desired (not included in registration). We will also enjoy some rituals and ceremonies to connect with the land in gratitude, bring greater balance, and amplify the purification of our time in retreat.
Q: Will I have time to rest, be alone, and explore the area?
A: Yes, absolutely! We have planned in ample rest time, especially on ceremony days. In addition, other than ceremonies and integration circles, all activities and excursions are optional. We want each participant to have the space and time to take care of themselves, and we support that completely!
Q: What should I bring with me?
A: It’s pretty hot in the Nicoya Peninsula in November, so plan to dress for a tropical climate. Bring at least one pair of sturdy sandals (Chacos or Keens are great) for exploring more rugged terrain. Bring whatever supplements and special snacks/food items you enjoy, as there are no shops near the retreat center. Bring whatever health and personal care items you prefer from home, as they may not be available in Tambor or beyond. Bring small sacred items to create an altar in your room. Bring a yoga mat and blanket for ceremony, and possibly a backjack floor chair. Bring sunscreen and a natural insect repellent. Bring something fun to wear for dancing or merriment. Bring a camera or cell phone with a camera ~ it’s too beautiful to forget that! Bring a favorite sun hat and light long sleeve shirt as a cover up, and a couple of sarongs are always useful. Bring a lightweight rain jacket for possible showers. Bring a small instrument if you wish, but make sure you know how to pack it properly. Bring a journal, an inspiring book, or art supplies. Most of all, bring an open heart and open mind, and your intentions for healing and personal transformation!
Q: Is there laundry service available?
Yes, for an additional fee.
Q: How many people will you be taking on the next retreat?
A: We are offering space for only 12 people to come to Costa Rica with us! It is important to us that our participants feel well taken care of and enjoy the retreat in an intimate setting. We keep the registration number this low to make sure that you have the best and most personal experience possible.
Q: I have a special diet ~ vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc ~ and wonder if you can accommodate my needs?
A: Special diets are no problem. We are happy to accommodate your needs as long as you let us know during registration. All meals will be fresh, healthy, and vegetarian, prepared to best support our healing work. Gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free options are standard.
Q: What is included in my registration fees?
A: Your registration fee covers almost everything you could need on the retreat. Accommodations, meals during the retreat, healing ceremonies, group and private integration sessions, meditations, yoga, and group rituals and sessions.
